Editor: Excellent piece “Bush Teaches Constitution” and I don’t mean to nitpick but the expression "new science of politics" suggests a systematic, coherent, and comprehensive framework -- it's the favorite expression of the "Straussians" to suggest that we more or less started off de novo. The actual quote, of course, is: "The science of politics, however, like most other sciences, has received great improvement." The word “novel” appears nearby and “new” in the next section but there is no sense of a comprehensive framework. George Carey, Georgetown University

Editor: Your article “Bush Teaches Constitution” on the constitutional order in this issue is just superb. Best, Sam Karnick

Editor: Fantastic article “Bush Teaches Constitution.” All the best from an old Reagan alumnus, Duncan L. Howard

Editor: Good article on “Bush Teaches Constitution.” Adding historical examples makes it all come together. Bill Sizemore

Editor: Excellent article on “Bush Teaches Constitution.” If I could, I would have this article printed on the front page of every newspaper in the land. Outstanding. I would like to help circulate this piece. Is there any way you could give me permission to repost this article on http://theloyaleagles.com If you can't, no problem--just want to help you distribute it. My best to you, Loyal Eagle

Editor: Congratulations on an excellent explanation of how the Constitution works. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Alan Caruba

Editor: Your article “Bush Teaches Constitution” was very informative. Thanks, David Phillips

Editor: I have just finished reading your article "Bush Teaches Constitution" and like you I say right on! Joseph Story, a justice of the Supreme Court 1811-1845 wrote the following words in his book, “A Familiar Exposition of The Constitution of the United States,” discussing the second section of the first article, structure of the House of Representatives. Justice Story points out the "indirect advantages from this immediate agency of the people in the choice of their Representatives, as of incalculable benefit, and deserve a brief mention in this place, because they furnish us with a matter for most serious reflection, in regard to the actual operations and influences of the republican governments." He goes on to write "The proceeding and debates of the legislature; the conduct of public officers, from the highest to the lowest; the character and conduct of the Executive and his ministers; the struggles, intrigues, and conduct of different parties; and the discussion of the great public measures and questions which agitate and divide the community; - 'are not only freely canvassed, and thus improve and elevate conversation, but they gradually furnish the mind with safe and solid materials for judgment upon all public affairs, and check that impetuosity and rashness, to which sudden impulses might otherwise lead the people, when they are artfully misguided by selfish demagogues, and plausible schemes of change." (single quotes are mine). I firmly believe, even after over 166 years have past, our Constitution still works as it was intended. While "We The People" most of the time do not become overly excited by the oft times ridiculous posturing of our elected officials we can and will raise our voices, invoke the Constitution and let each of them know it is "WE" who are ultimately "The Government". I of course refer to the latest attempt by our current set of demagogues in Washington to incite and mislead the public on the matter of immigration. I enjoy your informational publication so please continue your good works. I remain, Spencer L. Poston

Editor: I am glad President Bush is teaching the Constitution. It is obvious that the leadership in the Congress must have skipped that course in school. Praise God that the schools in Texas did a good job. The Idaho schools seem to be doing quite well on that score. _Grclnscott@aol.com_

Editor: Bush just executed an executive order appointing him dictator anytime he feels there is an emergency. And you have the gall to use him as a post for upholding the Constitution in "Bush Teaches Constitution"! What planet do you live on? Ask Bush if America is a Republic. The next time he says that will be the first, "Nuff said about that fascist dictator. Bill Ford

Editor: Liked the article "Bush Teaches Constitution" very much. Reminders like this are needed. Another area where checks and balances impact powers would be Congress and the federal courts. Recently Congress tried to limit the power of the federal court system to deal with enemy combatants. A law was passed to give only the DC Federal Appeals court the power to hear cases regarding this. A federal court ignored the law ruling that the law did not pertain to cases pending then. What a travesty! Would that congress had the fortitude to eliminate cases regarding public policy not covered explicitly by the constitution! Goodbye Roe vs Wade. Thanks again Phil Trickett

Editor: “Bush Teaches Constitution” is Great Stuff. K. Barry

Editor: Thank you, thank you for compiling and posting your article, "Bush Teaches Constitution". Today, it appears that few Congressional leaders understand the US Constitution. Or do they, and are banking on the American citizenry being so 'dumbed down' by the public education system that the Congressional liberal faction's push leftward won't be noticed? You have clarified many points that I try to incorporate into debates and writings but couldn't express the exact meaning. Thanks again. You're doing a great service. May the God of our Fathers continue to bless your mind and your resolve, Rose

Editor: I wish Carey Robert’s “Duke 88 Disgrace Ad” article would reach the mainstream media. The majority of university departments the Duke 88 represents is telltale. Parents have to choose universities based on principles, not on so-called "impressive" university names. I have met too many parents who want and pressure their children to go to colleges with big names as a badge of honor, reflecting their parenting success. A family member of mine attends George Mason University (a public university) and reports to me that the professors do an excellent job of teaching facts, without agendas. This gives me hope! Ann

Editor: The group of "professors" revealed in Carey Robert’s “Duke 88 Disgrace Ad” article is an embarrassment to a prestigious University with a super basketball program. I am a former professor of education with an emphasis in science education and happy to note that none of the '88' were education professors. I was equally dismayed that two of the group were from science/mathematics. Harrie Caldwell

Editor: “Duke 88 Disgrace Ad” is a Great Piece! The only justice available would be from students who refuse to sign up for their classes thereby "firing the professors"! They have the power. Power to the people. Thanx, Brad Whitcomb

Editor: Thank Carey Roberts for exposing the 88 self-righteous imbeciles who piled on the bandwagon before it was fully prepared to carry out its journey. Perhaps many of them are guilt-ridden due to their own racist pasts and much too eager to proclaim themselves protectors of blacks--any blacks. Nifong deserves all that may happen to him as a result of this misdeed. Unfortunately, these 88 are apparently simply continuing on with their work. Parents should pull their students from Duke. Editor: The article “Regulation Costs $1 Trillion” by Clyde Wayne Crews is excellent information. Keep up the good work. JH

Editor: Your article by Clyde Wayne Crews “Regulations Cost $1 Trillion” triggered my thoughts. Since 1971 my profession (law enforcement) has spent just over a trillion dollars to arrest about 37 million Americans for drug offenses and to fill up hundreds of warehouses with dope. The return on that investment? Nothing, Zero, Zilch. According to government stats and my professional inquiries, drugs today are cheaper, stronger and much easier to find and buy. I would like to see the Conservative Battleline Online publish something on this 3rd rail issue. Even as it is the most expensive failure, causes many more deaths and injuries than Iraq and funds billions to Al Qaeda, NOBODY wants to talk about the policy of War on Drugs/New Prohibition. Are you ready? Officer Howard J. Wooldridge (retired, Education Specialist, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (www.leap.cc)

Editor: It is awesome when government works for the people. This time with ILLEGALS we won big time but I fear the future with the Pres, Ted, Reed, Pelosi and the other clowns still around. Just wanted to say thanks for the input in David Keene’s “Grassroots Pushes Right.” I was surprised to see Sen. Feinstein go to bat for our mistreated border patrol agents that are sitting in prison, appalling is all I can say. I should maybe be ashamed of myself for voting for Bush both times but how could I have known he would turn out to be what he is? I will never vote in anyone for a second term in any office again is the only thing I can think of. With over 250 million people in our great country one would think that we would have a good person to run for President in 2008 but I can only see Rep. Tancredo as my only choice now which is a long shot, still looking at Thompson. Thank you, Marvin Jolly

Editor: I really like the PDF download feature for ConservativeBattleline. It makes reading the articles that interest me easier and more convenient. Tom Tripp.
