Editor: I have not read the precise study nor the statistics referenced in your editorial, "Mothers: More Bonding/Less Available?" But anecdotally from my own life, I know perfectly well that when I went to work full time, I spent tens of fewer hours with my son. He had school to take up some differences in time, but I often left before he went to school and was not off work until well after his 3:15 pm school day was over. Luckily, most of the time, Mike had my parents when I wasn't available, but I do not believe a couple hours in a museum on a weekend or "story time" a few minutes an evening cover all the time my son and I had when I was an at-home mom and was in the house or car, wherever he was. To say somehow people who spend 100s of hours at work now "spend more time with their children" must be people who practice some kind of time elimination magic. Renny Hartmann

Editor: Thanks for another well-reasoned, thoughtful piece in "Mothers: More Bonding/Less Available?" It's like day and night compared with the hysterical, childish email Planned Parenthood distributed after the recent court ruling on abortion. Rich Byman

Editor: Thank Bill Marina’s “No Federal Crosses?” for the message and the graphics concerning the CROSS. Shame on the Supreme Court once again. We must expose the ACLU as one of freedom's greatest enemies. Keep up the good work. I will look for more of his articles. Ed McKinley, Memphis, TN

Editor: Regarding Bill Marina’s “No Federal Crosses?” judges are our underground government but even Justice Sandra Day O’Connor said: "I do not believe it is the function of the judiciary to step in and change the law because the times have changed. I do well understand the difference between legislating and judging. As a judge, it is not my function to develop public policy…the proper role of the judiciary is one of interpreting and applying the law, not making it." Congress has the power to eliminate judges for bad behavior. Congress as usual ignores it. What else is new? Richard Ahern, Fremont, California

Editor: I received Bill Marina’s “No Federal Crosses?” article by email from a friend. I can't believe that is something our very own Supreme Court would rule in favor of!! This is and always has been a Christian country predominantly and was founded on those principles. Every time I turn around, God is under attack and is being removed in one form or another from the fabric of our society. I am alarmed at the lack of leadership in America. I am alarmed at the direction the media is taking in this country. I am alarmed that America seems to be slipping away and not one single person in a leadership position is screaming "The British are coming, the British are coming". Of course, it isn't the British that we all have to fear at this point in time, but I think you know what I am saying. At times, I feel despondent and desperate. I would do anything to help save this country. Thank you. Andrea Shepherd

Editor: Regarding Bill Marina’s “No Federal Crosses?” this nation was founded as a Christian Nation and crosses should be permitted ANYWHERE people want to place them, especially on Federal Property! My ancestors came to this country primarily for religious freedom as Christians from Europe where there was persecution & mistreatment of Christians and we need to keep this country a sanctuary for Christianity ! Frances Shannon

Editor: Thanks for Bill Marina’s “No Federal Crosses?” Keep up the good work. Max Adamski, Tega Cay, SC

Editor: Maybe more crosses would create less hatred. Every time I think about our founding fathers and what our country once stood for: God, Country, Love and Respect for One Another. Our children no longer feel safe in their schools. Hatred is everywhere! Maybe, having the Ten Commandments displayed would touch the hearts of the lonely person in despair or the individual suffering from depression. Maybe, the world wouldn't feel like such a cold-hearted non-caring place! If God's message was truly carried forth the way it once was, the individual that killed all those students in Virginia Tech might have thought twice about killing God's creations. Maybe, he too would have felt that someday, somewhere he would fill that lonely void in his life. They're stealing our heritage! They're hurting our families! They're removing LOVE from our nation. If there were more symbols around our schools and our government, that represented love for one another and the love for our fellowman, desperate people would not be ashamed to go for help! How will we ever RETURN to the AMERICA WE ONCE WERE? What happened at Virginia Tech and Columbine is a bleak picture of things to come, if we don't put THIS NATION back on the path of ONE NATION UNDER GOD, once again. Having the symbols and love of our creator over this world could never do the harm THAT THE EMPTINESS WHICH HAS REPLACED IT has created over our nation and its people. WE HAVE REMOVED "HOPE" WHEN WE REMOVED GOD'S LOVE OVER OUR NATION! Thank you for relieving my troubled heart. Sincerely, J. Emmons

Editor: They open their mouths and words come out, but they don't think first, or at all. No crosses on federal land??? Russ

Editor: Paul Driessen has my complements for “Real Inconvenient Truth.” His article clearly articulates why the Global Warming & Climate Change issue is so out of touch with reality. When the solutions to a problem provide minuscule results to what is described as an earth shattering problem, we know we are being victimized by political & social agenda opportunists. The hold these folks have on the world's financial, political, and social issues is dangerous and the dangers are growing as they reach for global control of everything and everyone. Too bad the media are not reporting ALL of the facts, and how the proposed solutions affect everyone, including how those solutions detrimentally affect the most vulnerable among us in the world. Is it any wonder the poor and disadvantaged of the world hate America? Our policies guided by these rabid radical social agenda driven anti-humanity activists, have been doing terrible harm while we live well. The solutions look to assign blame for this on all of us while those who guided us there take none. Worse, they would see all of us live as the third world does, rather than lift up those in the third world. Can they possibly hate life that much? Anyway, great article, thanks. Stephen Ralston

Editor: I'm most impressed with Paul Driessen's article. It's one of the most thoughtful, thought-provoking assessments of the eco-babble that is causing so much of the world's misery. I applaud his honesty and intelligence in giving the readers the real story behind the hype. Many thanks to him, Philinda Minor

Editor: A huge “inconvenient truth” that the greeners ignore is that cosmologists report THE ENTIRE SOLAR SYSTEM IS WARMING, probably due to extra energy the sun is producing. A natural analogy would surely extend to the Earth. Mars is warming and losing ice caps. Venus is even heating up. Saturn and Jupiter, along with their moons, are showing rises in temperatures. Jupiter is exhibiting new storm systems. Even little planetoid, Pluto, now on an orbit moving AWAY from the sun is showing warming. The inconvenient truth for the greenies who want to add taxes to gasoline (in 1996, Al Gore wanted to add 75 cents to national gas taxes but was denied by the Clinton reelection campaigning) and tell you when you can vacation or turn on your air-conditioning is that even if all human activity were abruptly to halt, if the sun is warming us, nothing the greens can do will stop global warming. I. R. Hartmann

Editor: Thanks for Bob Barr's article “DC Gun Law Out” It's about time the actual Constitution has real power, as it should verbatim all the time!! If guns would have been present in the Virginia Tech incident I can promise you the slaughter that occurred would have been curtailed to a fewer number or most likely would not have occurred AT ALL!! We have the absolute right to protect ourselves, our family and our property from thugs and freaks!!! END OF STORY!!! Char

Editor: I enjoyed Bob Barr's article “DC Gun Law Out” on the important washed in DC case. Unfortunately the article did not give the case site, something that should always be included concerning discussion of a case decision. Samuel Hill

Editor: Thanks for adding the pdf option for ConservativeBattleline. It makes for much smoother reading--which means I more of the material will be read, at least in the case of this conservative. Pax, Bob Conley

Editor: In regard to the debate between Republican candidates at the Reagan Library, if the GOP candidates intend to be taken seriously, they can't let ridiculous people like Chris Matthew or the rest of the so-called news media control the forums in which they appear. Matthews made himself look good and the candidates were forced to answer idiotic or asinine questions. Overall, the "debate" came off like the losers from AMERICAN IDOL. The format allowed the backdrop (Air Force One Pavilion of the Reagan Library) to dwarf the candidates -- making them look like kids running for student council or something. A few more of these media-in-charge forums, and the GOP will have to write off the 2008 elections all together. Brian Lynch
