Hollywood on Racism
by Bob Parks
What he said was boneheaded, vile and racist but if Mel Gibson went off on
Christians, would there be this much uproar?
When I worked in Hollywood, Jewish people I knew would lose their minds at
any inference that the place was run by them. Yet, the fact is, a lot of the
people working at almost every level in Hollywood, from TV shows to movies
are Jewish. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT? Many took offense and reacted. Is there
something wrong with noticing that?
Using that illogic, one would be considered a racist if one were to say
that the National Basketball Association is run by blacks, when at any given
time on a basketball court you may see ten black players running up and down
the court. Blacks DO dominate the NBA. Is that a bad thing?
But here's the hypocrisy. It all depends on who's talking on how Hollywood
and the media react to the offender.
"A handkerchief-head, chicken-and-biscuit-eating Uncle Tom." This is what
big-time Hollywood director Spike Lee said about Clarence Thomas. Did you
hear about that in the media, much less the Hollywood uproar?
Here is Hollywood star Harry Belafonte: "In the days of slavery, there were
those slaves who lived on the plantation and [there] were those slaves that
lived in the house. You got the privilege of living in the house if you
served the master... exactly the way the master intended to have you serve
him. Colin Powell's committed to come into the house of the master. When
Colin Powell dares to suggest something other than what the master wants to
hear, he will be turned back out to pasture."
"Is you their black-haired answer-mammy who be smart? Does they like how you
shine their shoes, Condoleezza? Or the way you wash and park the whitey's
cars?" This is a song from the show of left-wing radio host Neil Rogers.
What about reaction to Hollywood's favorite politicians? "Who is this "Emily
List? She's supportin' all these people. She's supportin' Sen. Dianne
Feinstein. She's supported Sen. Barbara Boxer....She supported everybody.
Why won't she support me?" This was Hillary Clinton, in her best black
accent, mocking San Francisco mayor Willie Brown.
Or "You'd find these potentates from down in Africa, you know, rather than
eating each other, they'd just come up and get a good square meal in
Geneva:" Senator Fritz Hollings (D, S.C.)
"Republicans bring out Colin Powell and J.C. Watts because they have no
program, no policy. They have no love and no joy. They'd rather take
pictures with black children than feed them." This was said by Donna
Brazile, Al Gore's Campaign Manager for the 2000 election.
"He's married to a white woman. He wants to be white. He wants a colorless
society. He has no ethnic pride. He doesn't want to be black." This was
California State Senator Diane Watson on Ward Connerly's interracial
marriage.
The Chairwoman of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, Mary Frances Berry,
had this to contribute: "Civil rights laws were not passed to protect the
rights of white men and do not apply to them." Of course, there was no media
or Hollywood reaction.
To be specific about anti Semitism: Hillary Clinton called political
operative Paul Fray: "You fucking Jew bastard." This was revealed in "State
of a Union: Inside the Complex Marriage of Bill and Hillary Clinton" and has
been verified by Paul Fray and three witnesses.
Of course, there was the famous "Hymies" and "Hymietown" as Jesse Jackson's
description of New York City while on the 1984 presidential campaign trail.
Democrat state representative Bill McKinney made it very simple in
explaining why his daughter Cynthia lost in 2002: "Jews - that's J-E-W-S."
There are bigots everywhere. There are bigots in every community, amongst
every ethnic group even if the media do not report it. If you think your
group is special, you're a dope.
