Whose Assimilation?
by Nathan Tabor

If one ever doubted that California is over the edge, on May 1 (the old communist May Day) its Senate decided to ignore its legislative duties by supporting and participating in the Great American Boycott for illegal immigrants of 2006.

It was not much better in Washington, D.C. Michelle Malkin http://www.michellemalkin.com points out an absurdity that should be an embarrassment for President George W. Bush.

Asked at a news conference about the translation and singing of the National Anthem in Spanish, the President seemed adamant with his declaration that the Francis Scott Keyes homage to American courage should be sang in English, and then added, "I think people who want to be citizens of this country ought to learn English," certainly a first step in the assimilation process of becoming a U.S. citizen.

Sounds good but someone should send a memo to the White House communications office. The entire White House website, as can be seen by following this link, http://www.whitehouse.gov/espanol/index.es.html has been translated into Spanish.

As Malkin notes, "Who’s assimilating whom?"
