No Rule of Law
by Chas Jones
Where is America today? Virtually none of our elected
representatives demonstrate any real allegiance to our constitutions
(federal or state). When rogue judges violate their oaths, legislators
either complain, or clap. None move to impeach judges that abandon their
oath and legislate from the bench.
When the Supreme Court wakes up one morning and decides the 14th amendment "incorporates (or applies)" some of the Bill of Rights to the states both legislative & executive branches, as well as most states, complain or even clap. Yet no action is taken to defend the constitution, or the states, against such judicial tyranny.
It seems apparent that even the majority of Republicans, let alone
Democrats, are perfectly comfortable allowing the abolition of the Rule of
Law and the concepts of federalism, and checks and balances supporting
separation of powers.
What is the point of electing Republicans if they ignore the rule of law and
our constitutions as blithely as Democrats? I don't wish to surrender to
those who hold no value for the rule of law. But where is the battlefield?
Do conservatives have any "soldiers" in the fight? And why aren't all
Republicans soldiers in that fight?
I need some word of encouragement that the Republican Party is committed to
a return to the rule of law, and to "constitutionalism." I have many friends
who have already abandoned the GOP for the Constitution party.
I don't believe that approach makes any sense, mostly because I want to
believe the GOP may be redeemed and made once more a party that places the
rule of law above all save obedience to Christ.
Am I wrong? If I'm not, I need some evidence that conservatives aren't going
to "go along to get along" concerning the rule of law. I need evidence
elected Republicans aren't going to swear oaths to our constitution only to
then do nothing as it is violated almost equally by all three federal
branches.
Why won't the party, as a national imperative, agree that one area where
compromise cannot be tolerated is violation of the constitution and the rule
of law.
Five Supreme Court justices recently ruled that the 5th Amendment's
prohibition on "taking private property for" anything other than public use
is nullified. That immediate impeachment articles were not sought against
these rogues is a national, and Party disgrace. A constitutionally protected
"right to sodomy," has been imposed upon the nation, and our elected
officials who govern by our consent, who have themselves taken oaths to
defend our constitution, do nothing.
Please give me some compelling reason for continued support, both financial,
and in the voting booth, for the GOP.
