Body Counts

For years I’ve tried to decipher the thinking of the liberals in this country. What makes them so intent on destroying the institutions that made our country the freest and most prosperous in the world. I’ve listened to the college professors who use their academic freedom to deplore freedom, and some of their mindless students who preach hatred of America while guzzling the beer and smoking the dope that is paid for by the monthly checks from their hard working parents.

I’ve watched the leftists who control much of the news media as they’ve dropped any pretense of reporting the news and instead have used their jobs as a forum for denigrating the values of most Americans and attempting to impose their own distorted valueless outlook. Then we come to the politicians in the Democratic party. I can remember the days when members of both parties would put aside party loyalty when it came to the defense of our nation. That is no longer the case among the majority of Democrats who have become virtual robots marching in lock step with the far left.

So I’ve given up trying to figure out what makes them tick and looked instead and what gets them excited and motivated the most. My conclusion is that body counts are the things that makes the hearts of the left beat faster. Of course I’m not talking about just any bodies, they have to be those of dead Americans. The higher the count, the more the liberals like it, and the more they use them to try and score political points.

This started during the Vietnam war when the liberals in the media decided that the best way to turn Americans against the war, and ultimately bring about our defeat, was to continuously bombard the us with pictures of dead and wounded soldiers. American victories were largely unreported and since there were few victories by the other side, it became necessary to create the illusion that our troops were losing the war. Thus, the use of the body counts.

Even this wasn’t enough for the truly committed leftists. They really enjoyed the images of dead American soldiers and while they spoke passionately at rallies about bringing the soldiers home, in private they called up the families of the dead heroes and told grieving parents, spouses and children how happy they were about the news.

Now that brings us to the current crop of body counters. First and foremost is that guru of left-wing Hollywood, Michael Moore. He started his rise to “fame” by using the bodies of the children killed at Columbine High School as the basis for a “humorous” documentary supporting gun control. He was given an Academy Award for this ghoulish effort.

Then came 9-11 and the resulting war on terror. Moore saw this as a golden opportunity to step on the bodies of innocent American civilians and our brave soldiers in order to propel himself to even more fame, and most importantly, more money. His so-called documentary “Fahrenheit 9/11” was made up entirely of half-truths and outright lies, but the liberals loved it. Moore hasn’t stopped there. A few days ago I took a deep breath, held my nose, and went to Michael’s website. Sure enough, there were the body counts.

First there was the montage of the pictures of dead American soldiers made into the likeness of President Bush. Then there were links to counts of U.S. Military deaths in Iraq, U.S. Military wounded in Iraq, and Iraqi civilian deaths. This last site was particularly interesting since it seems that George Bush and our soldiers are personally responsible for all the civilians killed by terrorists. I was somewhat shocked by this, but then I remembered that Cindy Sheehan has said that these people aren’t terrorists, but freedom fighters.

Cindy is also prominently featured on Michael’s website. She’s his newest best friend and hero, and in the strange bedfellows department she’s also David Duke’s hero. Lest we forget, David started his career in college as an organizer for the American Nazi Party and the graduated to being the Grand Imperial “Lizard” or something like that of his very own Ku Klux Klan organization. Since he’s a convicted felon in this country he now operates out of Romania.

Now we have the devastation caused to four Gulf Coast states by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and the body counters couldn’t be happier. Before the winds had even died down liberals were blaming Katrina on George W. Bush’s environmental polices. Then as the scenes of chaos begin to emerge in New Orleans the liberals went into a feeding frenzy. There was a rising count of dead Americans and it could all be blamed on the President.

Forget about the failure of the mayor of New Orleans and the Governor of Louisiana to initiate their own emergency evacuation plan for the city. And surely we must ignore the fact that after the storm had gone through that most of the Louisiana National Guard remained sitting a few miles from the city for almost 24 hours while Governor Blanco cried and wrung her hands. I mean these people are Democrats, so in the eyes of their fellow liberals they are no more responsible for what happened in New Orleans than Bill Clinton was for failing to pull the trigger on Osama bin Laden when the CIA had him in its sights.

The liberal media loved it and Michael and Cindy were quick to add their two cents worth. Cindy blamed the whole hurricane on the President although to the disappointment of some of her radical supporters she neglected to put any of the blame on Israel. Moore’s actions were no surprise either. He saw the body bags coming out of New Orleans and these translated into dollar signs in his warped mind. He quickly announced his intention to do a new documentary on Katrina and George Bush.

Then came Hurricane Rita and you could sense the disappointment in the left wing media. There just weren’t enough bodies! Sure they saw entire communities devastated and people lost their homes and livelihoods, but what they hell, they’re all red staters anyway. There was nothing new to blame on the President so the news media quickly seem to lose interest and of course there were no star laden fund raisers held to showcase the Hollywood elite and allow them to bash the Bush. Cindy Sheehan was particularly upset that Mother Nature interfered with her anti-war demonstration in D.C. Unable to get what she considered adequate coverage of her grieving mother charade she petulantly complained that the media was ignoring her to cover “a little wind and rain.”

As for Michael Moore, a check of his website reveals that the aftermath of Rita in not worthy of his mention. There’s not even any self-serving plea for money to fund the personal visits by him and his comrades to the ravaged area for photo shoots. Its probably because there’s no money to be made off of Rita, but then again it might be that he knows that the patriotic southeast Texans and southwest Louisiana Cajuns would shoot him on sight for what he is; a looter of the dead.

Moore and Sheehan and their liberal admirers aren’t worried however. The total of Americans killed in Iraq will eventually reach 2,000 and you can count on a virtual celebration by the left. They’ll try to mask their delight by making the standard impassioned pleas to bring the troops home, and then go right back to encouraging the terrorists to keep up the good work and make the count 3,000. After all, that’s what body counters do.
