Will We be There the Next Time?

Editor: I have enjoyed your ConservativeBattleline e-mails and will be bookmarking your site.

I am a member of my county's Republican Party, my greatest fear now is that the northeastern states Iowa and N.H. will give John McCain the Republican nomination in 2008. I am reading things like one of Bush's consultants has already committed to McCain, and that the wife of a liberal colunmist has gone to work for McCain.

I am a grandmother from the rural south [Mississippi] and I can tell you that my state will not support McCain. I don't want him as the nominee. I will be withhoilding funds and support until I see where this is going with McCain. I don't know what kind of deal Bush made with him to keep in loyal in the 2004 election. We like George Allen, Haley Barbour, Mike Hucklebee.

I can remember when I could not wait for Strom Thurmon to retire and give Lindsey Graham the opportunity to serve as Senator. He was one of my favorite Republicans in the House. When I heard he was to appear on a TV show or radio, I made note of it so I would not miss him. As you know he has turned out to be the biggest disappointment, and is a lap dog for McCain. McCain and Hillary can lead him anywhere.

When you see things like the 7 Republicans going against the wishes of the voters, it makes you wonder why we worked so hard to elect Republicans and give them a majority. No one will listen to my voice, but you have a bully pulpit and maybe you can get the attention of the leaders in the party and let them know how rural America feels. We may not be there the next time around.
