Editor: This week's ConservativeBattleline.com is very good, with several well-written articles, enjoyable to read. Of course, it is always good, much of it just seems better this week. Tom Tripp

Editor: What would it cost to take out a full page in the NY Times to reprint your editorial "Why America Doesn't Work"? It is a worthy piece. I do not know, as an "Upbeat" Entrepreneur, which major party would benefit more. Bill O'Reilly, as a 'Conservative Libertarian?' might devote a full hour to this, with the author and another NON-partisan. Certainly a format change, but Bill likes the challenge. Good work but it is too bad most of our population couldn't comprehend it, even if read. I like to listen to, and read, Limbaugh, Buckley and The National Review, etc.... I disregard content presented at a 6th Grade reading level. Keep up the good work! Watch for my upcoming fiction novel, "Three Nations Under God"©. Which is stranger, truth or fiction? Martin L. Roth, MBA, MIB

Editor: "Why America Doesn't Work" is because Republicans are no longer conservatives. Republicans have become Democrats, and Democrats have become Socialists. I'm glad I'm in my 60's and will miss most of the God-awful government "my" party is buying into, selling out to, and becoming. Will all elected officials do anything for money? It stinks. And you know what happens to stuff that stinks: it gets tossed out. That's why American Doesn't Work anymore. Just follow the money--after we pay the taxes, that is! Barb Hauf, Davenport IA

Editor: Thanks to Sharon Hughes for her good article on Jane Fonda and Nam Vets. I flew Hueys in that "war". I was just thinking earlier this morning what Fonda has to say about the Communist government she supported and the way they treat their citizens. Is she proud of helping install a government who gives NO FREEDOMS to their people? A government rated among the top five in the world for persecution of it's own people. A government who kills the Montagnards just for being a minority in Vietnam. A government that will not allow religious freedom; jailing, torturing, and killing those who would worship any god except the god of communism. Is Jane Fonda proud of supporting this government? Where is her apology to the people of Vietnam whom she helped enslave? Where are her well-publicized protests against this government she helped conquer all of Vietnam? It's time to stand up for something good, Jane, instead of your own self-interests. Tim Feaver, Portland OR

Editor: Regarding Sharon Hughes' piece, I'm a Nam vet. 25th Inf. And I'll forgive Jane Fonda when the Jew's forgive Hitler. Dennis Wright, Evansville Indiana

Editor: Sharon failed to mention the POWs who were killed due to Fonda's actions while in Vietnam. Also Fonda and her then husband Tom Hayden failed to obtain passports for their visits, for which they were never prosecuted (Ask Bobby Fisher what happens to ordinary citizens on that one!) Just spitting tobacco juice on "Hanoi Jane" is too good a treatment for a traitor! Tom Kirby

Editor: Who is this "everyone" who Sharon Hughes said disagreed with the vet spitting on Jane Fonda? Where did that come from? Certainly not me or any Vet I talked to about that b….h! Is this another one of "those" surveys that no one has heard about? I believe the man was right, payback has always been a b….h David Burns

Editor: Did I hear correctly that Jane Fonda has become a born again Christian? If so we need to forgive her in the same way that God forgives us and articles like this don't help. Ron MacArthur

Editor: Chuck Baldwin's well-written piece on "abuse of power" by agents of the Federal Government at Waco, Texas is quite true. Actually, the Boston Massacre is really a poor comparison for events at Waco. First, unlike the peaceful residents of Mount Carmel, the mob involved in the Boston Massacre was causing a public disturbance while threatening the property of British Crown and the lives of the British Redcoats assigned to guard it. Second, the British "Lobsterbacks" involved in that incident, known then as "The Bloody Massacre", were charged in court and acquitted of the charges of "capital murder". The "rest of the story" is that these British soldiers were defended by none other than John Adams, patriot, prime instigator of the "Declaration of Independence" and future president. The jury, composed of Boston citizens, found Adams' argument of "self-defense" compelling in the case of 6 of the 8 defendants, while convicting the other two of "manslaughter", extracting a penalty of "thumb branding". The fact that the British soldiers were indicted and tried alone differentiates the 1770 event from the one of 1993, as no Federal agents were ever put "in the dock" for their illegal actions at Waco. Also, the folks that inhabited the Mount Carmel property were a threat to no one, except perhaps themselves, when the BATF served their illegal warrant using equally illegal force. Finally, the systematic murder of all those innocents by the FBI, merely for "political expedience", properly is more akin to the Nazi slaughter of innocent Jews and others, then it is to those soldiers in Boston that feared for their lives. Editor: Regarding Paul Weyrich's article on Latin America, what about Argentina as part of the new axis of Incompetent Evil? Its president, by the name of Kirchner, and most of his retinue, are a hodgepodge of recycled terrorists from the 70's. They turned a safe country into a crime infested nightmare. Look into these guys' past. Carlos Medica, Aurora, OR

Editor: I read an article in my local newspaper that mentioned David Keene, the chairman of the American Conservative Union. The article said that Mr. Keene has come out in favor of an independent investigation of the torture of detainees in Afghanistan and Iraq. I just wanted to say "thank you". I'm a liberal. I disagree strongly with many of the views expressed by your organization. Liberals and Conservatives are first and foremost, Americans. As Americans, we all have a duty to see to it that our government does not condone or support torture in any way. This is not a Dem./Rep. or liberal/conservative issue - it is an American issue. Again, I applaud your decision to support an independent investigation. Tom Addesa, Columbus, Ohio
