Real Social Security

Editor: I just read your article regarding "No Choice in Social Security." While the conclusion is correct, there are additional points about which the American people need to be reminded.

Social Security was never intended to provide full retirement benefits for all people. The original intent was to be a safety net for the elderly so that the vast system of Alms Homes could be obsolete.

Enter the bleeding heart liberals and the redistribution of wealth. Upon seeing all the money flowing into the Social Security Accounts, it was decided to spend this money for other social programs. Survivor benefits for children, survivor benefits for spouses of working age, payments to disabled and the list goes on. Add to that the fact the money in the Social Security accounts earns less interest than passbook savings accounts, the Congress surely has not exercised fiscal responsibility. Indeed, if they were in free enterprise they would be arrested.

Just give me the money that the government has confiscated from me and I will take care of myself.
