Washington Governor Election
Roxana Muise

Regardless of the blatant evidence of voter fraud, the Democratic controlled House and Senate refused to allow a revote in the election of our governor. The first count showed the Republican nominee, Dino Rossi ahead by less than 250 votes. This demanded an automatic machine recount, which still showed the Republican ahead, this time by only 61 votes. The Democrats then demanded a statewide hand recount, which showed the Democratic nominee, Christine Gregoire ahead by 120 votes. The Democrats promptly called it a victory.

Republicans then asked for a revote, for which there is precedence (endorsed by many, including former Governor, Dan Evans and others). They gathered signatures by internet and other means to support this, and held a rally at the capitol in Olympia just before the joint session of the Washington state legislature , where the Democratic nominee was nonetheless confirmed. Gregoire was sworn in Thursday, January 13.

Republicans filed a suit in court in Chelan County, WA. They had a great deal of evidence, which include d votes by dead persons, felons, prison inmates, and over 3,000 more votes tallied in King County alone than the number of voter registrations. There were many servicemen serving abroad during the election whose absentee ballots either arrived too late for them to vote, or never were received at all. A state court later denied an expedited hearing.

What kind of state do we live in, where close elections are allowed to stand without question? Even state officials admit that the election process is broken and in need of fixing, and that this must be done before we have another election. But, they do nothing!
