The
Kerry Enigna
by Gene McConnell
What
John Kerry did or did not do for 14 weeks in Vietnam is of no concern
to me. However, his activities pursuant to his return to the US
are cause for great concern. I am concerned that a man who wants
to be president and commander in chief would seek to deny any citizen
their first amendment right of free speech, especially war veterans,
while he claims the right for himself. I am concerned that he denounced
his fellow soldiers and gave aid and comfort to the enemies of our
country during a time of war. I am concerned that he apparently
considers himself to be better defined by his Vietnam service than
by his mundane service in the US Senate. I am concerned that he
seems to be, willing to do and say whatever is necessary to capture
the moment for himself. I believe John Kerry is still a lieutenant,
a second stringer who desperately wants to be a first stringer but
just can't cut it. He has leveraged wealth and social status to
attain position in excess of his capabilities. While this has worked
well for him among his constituency in the Northeast which tends
to eagerly embrace all things liberal, it is doubtful that the nation,
as a whole, will be as readily taken in.
