In regards to your article on conservative leaders, congratulations
to conservative champion, doctor, and former congressman, Tom Coburn
on his decisive victory in the Oklahoma U.S. Senate Republican primary.
Dr. Coburn received a stunning 61 percent of the vote, carrying
an amazing 76 of Oklahoma's 77 counties, in a race with three strong
and well-funded candidates. Without the backing of the establishment,
Dr. Coburn relied on his brand of honest, principled, grassroots-oriented,
conservative leadership to carry the day with Oklahoma voters. I'm
confident that those qualities will prevail in November against
liberal Congressman Brad Carson. That's when the real fun will begin,
as the U.S. Senate has not seen the likes of Tom Coburn in a very
long time. Sincerely, Jon Lerner

I'm really enjoying the ACUF magazine - one more publication telling
the truth. They're few on the ground these days, so yours is very
welcome. Thanks so much. Caroline Fiel

I've added a link to your continually interesting "web journal"
to my http://cosy.com/Liberty.htm#Links, even though you label yourself
"conservative" rather than "libertarian" .I've
also added a link to your article "The Putin Administration
on Kyoto" to my Global Warming page : http://cosy.com/views/warm.htm
. I trust you won't mind . Peace thru Freedom, Bob Armstrong

I just wanted to say, thank you for the Kerry Marsala article on
the movie, "America's Heart and Soul". I had a hard time
finding it in Austin but received the information from one of the
web sites that was telling people about it. My daughter took me
on the morning of the 4th. I enjoyed it immensely. I'm just sorry
more people don't know about it. It deserves a lot more publicity.
It gave us a very good feeling for the rest of the day and helped
make the 4th really special. I do not go to the movies as a rule.
Since '85 I've seen three, "The Patriot", because the
libs didn't want us to, "The Passion", and America's Heart
& Soul" I'm of the age when I could go see a musical and
come out singing. The trash they are making today would make me
want to shoot myself. Again, thank you. I only hope enough people
read this article and go check it out for themselves. Mary Simko,
Creedmoor, Tx.

Regarding the Kerry Marsala piece, could someone in the media /
production industry possibly produce a widely distributed, "fair
& balanced" counter to Fahrenheit 911 please? Jabba the...,
I mean Moores' "film" is getting WAY too much credibility
out here on the "left coast"; MUCH more than it deserves.

I agree with you on Martha Stewart. Brenda
Editor:
On the Stewart article, if I understand the verdict she was convicted
because as a member of the public she lied to the government. However,
if the government lies to the public that is perfectly OK. It might
even be expected! Ronald Webber
To the Editor:
Don't prosecutors usurp prerogatives of juries when, in difficult
cases they determine parties are guilty and when, then, they fish
about for grounds on which to convict vicariously? This is a dirty
trick, not American justice. It is an artifice worthy of some third-world,
bush-league regime. Federal judges, appointed for life, nowadays
may rise to the highest level of their mental and physical incompetence
before finally retiring from the bench. Judge Miriam Goldman Cedarbaum
is 75. When the American Constitution was written 200 years ago
few reached such senescence. Judge Cedarbaum's rulings in the Martha
Stewart debacle should serve to remind the public that the tenure
of federal judges can no longer be open-ended without untoward consequences.

We should never forget that at one time Martha was a stock broker
or as they used to call them "a customers' man" so she
knows the rules of the game. She does not deserve our pity but rather
our censure. Tim Sullivan

Real easy way to find out if Mrs. Stewart was treated fairly--compare
her fate with the of "Sandy" Berger. (If I did what he
did, my address would be U.S. Army Disciplinary Barracks, Ft. Leavenworth,
KS for at least ten years.) There was a minimum of three separate
chargeable offenses in his acts. Theft, Destruction of Government
Property, Willful Violation of Security Practices. These acts could
also lead to: Falsification of Government Documents (by the acts
of removal and subsequent destruction) and, possibly, espionage.
Now, does Sandy get the Stewart treatment or the Kennedy-Clinton
treatment? Yours Truly, Jerome Borden, Layton, UT

Could publish this so that Mr. Fielder could tell me where General
Vo Nguyen Giap, in his 1985 memoir of the war, wrote that, "if
it were not for the disunity created by... stateside protests, Hanoi
would have ultimately surrendered." Faith Long

Thank you for this young man's [Andy Oberman] essay. I hope that
he will continue writing and also study the history of free market

I have written the Democrat Senators who suggest that the so-called
"gun show loophole problem" be addressed. I asked them
what they are talking about. Apparently they think individual US
citizens meeting at a gun show and disposing of their property without
the government's approval is some kind of a loophole in the law.

I'm not happy with the lack of fight in the GOP. For the first time
in my 35 year voting life, I will not vote. We must practice saying
"President Kerry." Bush will lose against the most liberal
US Senator. Bush's policies are a disaster. From Aliens, to $15
Billion for AIDs, To surrender in Fallujah, to record deficits,
to no support for Judge Moore or Col. West, to Lynne Cheney, etc.
I guess I need to find a new party. Mike M.

President Bush will be reelected. There will be massive turnout
of a vast Catholic/Evangelical Christian voting block to safeguard
our culture, civilization, country and religion. There must be extraordinary
unity among conservatives in this country this year to reelect President
Bush. While there is much about the President's positions that do
not make me happy, the alternative - a Kerry presidency - would
be a nightmare. All conservatives must swallow their pride and unite
behind Bush/Cheney. "Irish"

If John Kerry wins the election we will become a socialist country
which I consider a communist one without the AK-47. Edward, MO.

I do not want to appear as a prophet of doom, but the choices we
make in this upcoming election will determine the destiny of America
for years to come. Many issues are at stake in this election. Those
with a conservative heart cannot vote their wallets, but they must
vote their moral standards. If they look to the Bible as their guideline
for choosing a presidential candidate then they will have to select
the man who stands for family values, traditional family structure,
pro life values, and the one who places his decisions in the hands
of the Lord Jesus Christ and not public opinion. Your vote counts
and in this election you will decide the fate of our country for
years to come. Will you allow the media to decide this election
or will you allow the moral values of integrity and trust be the
factors that enter into your mind as you vote this year? Pastor

In his Democratic National Convention acceptance speech, Sen. John
Kerry proclaimed that everyone has a "right" to health
care. He also said that doctors and patients should always be able
to make health care decisions without the approval of HMO bureaucrats.
No one has the right to force others to give them anything they
want - regardless of cost. No health care system in the world ever
has or ever will do that. It is impossible. Instead of promising
the health care equivalent of bread and circuses, Sen. Kerry should
offer Americans more freedom and less government control of medicine.
Sincerely,
Richard E. Ralston, Executive Director - Americans for Free Choice

Editor: Both parties avoid the subject of illegal
immigration but I find in my everyday contact with people that it
is becoming a point of contention. The people are ready to rebel.
I believe they will show their displeasure by changing the legislative
branch to the Democratic Party and perhaps even the presidency.
I know Kerry is also a great supporter of illegal immigrants and
open borders but if he is elected and tries to do these things he
will find the American people crying out for vengeance. Will the
politicians wake up? Ray Madden
