Editor: Unfortunately, you are all too correct about the “Phony Economic Recovery.” Measured GDP growth will likely turn positive, but it will be a jobless and joyless recovery. Much of any economic growth will be due to government spending, which does not add to the output of goods and services, just shifts resources around. The falling value of the U.S. dollar reflects the world's judgment of the declining long-term prospects for the U.S. economy. The declining U.S. share of global equity-market valuations confirms this. The status of the dollar as the international reserve currency is in doubt. The dollar's exchange value is being buttressed by the absence of a viable alternative. Most observers understand that it is the system of fiat currencies that has failed. No one has yet figured out how to return to a commodity standard such as gold. But at nearly $1,000 an ounce, gold represents an option on a new international monetary system. The Fed is the monopoly provider of dollars. It has mismanaged the global brand and seen its value eroded. If the Fed were a private firm, management would be turned out not re-appointed. We have entered unchartered economic waters. Gerald O’Driscoll, Senior fellow, The CATO Institute

Editor: Regarding your editorial “Phony Economic Recovery,” it's time that people realize that the president is a combination of an outright prevaricator and an ignoramus. Add that to his ideological belief system that the more government power the better and you have the pending disaster that is coming. It is scary to think about it; scarier still because most of the media are fully behind the Obamadems and will make every effort possible to cover up and explain away Obama's every lie and mistake. When the economy really starts slipping into obvious big trouble, the Obamadems and the media will be blaming the free market (what free market?) and the unwillingness of the Republicans and Conservatives to help with fixing the economy. That is our future. Everything we say (right or wrong) will be used against us. Conservatives and Republicans need to comport themselves with dignity, facts and logic. Charles E. Steber, Atlanta, Georgia

Editor: Regarding “Phony Economic Recovery,” fraud, corruption, lies and deceit, are the benchmark of the American economy. Well, perhaps the world economy. But regardless, I'm so disgusted with all of it. Every day, a new scam emerges, another liar exposed, another Bernie Madoff sets out to collect millions or billions off of trusting or unsuspecting souls. Our American ignorance elected a guy to be President of the United States who has little to no sound political experience to occupy such a position. He speaks well and was capable of running a successful campaign, cleverly utilizing the deceitful news media and playing to the vast ignorance and laziness of Americans. Obama's economic recovery plan of spending a trillion dollars to "stimulate" an economy and bailing out a broken banking system is simply mind boggling. Even to a guy like me, who is no financial wizard, who struggles from pay check to pay check, realizes that something is wrong with a plan that extorts such an astronomical sum of money from the American taxpayers for a reckless ploy to bail out failed institutions and provide a "stimulus" to the economy. How does that work? I can only relate to it by something of an analogy, such as me going to a local bank, extorting money from them in excess of every dollar I make and every dollar I am worth to "stimulate" my own growth. Somehow the money needs to get paid back and somehow I would have to have a return that was greater than the interest on the amount that I took. How does that work? Please tell me. I am tired of struggling from pay check to pay check to pay for excessive taxation, government social programs, welfare, registrations, fees, licenses and permits. Everything about Obama is dangerous. He is inexperienced and clouded by his own perceptions of how important he is. And please tell, what is up with Czars in America. I don't remember ever electing any of them to take care of OUR Nations business. America is entering the danger zone boys. I am only one of millions who are fed up with the greed, corruption, lies, deceit and self serving agendas of elected officials and big business in America. I see bad things on the horizon for America. I took an oath as a soldier to defend this great Nation against all enemies both foreign and domestic. I am not afraid, and this oath goes to the grave with me. Our cesspool of political scum had better start getting the picture. Richard Christensen

Editor: Regarding the statement attributed to former President George W. Bush in Byron York’s “Bush’s Conservatism,” his boast that “I redefined the Republican Party,” yeah, just like OJ Simpson redefined Nicole Brown Simpson. KB

Editor: Regarding Byron York’s “Bush’s Conservatism”, Latimer is on all the TV stations stabbing GWB in the back. I worked in the Pentagon during JFK years & I can detect disgruntled employees quickly. Where were all the Reps during his 8 years? He couldn't have passed all the legislation, etc to get us into this mess, by himself. Because he didn't endorse all our right wing groups doesn't mean he wasn't 100% for our party. I know he had to have made some big financial mistakes, but where was the party? Now you are giving the Dems all the fodder to blame the Obama mess on the previous admin. He ran 2 wars, took on the 9/11 tragedy & its aftermath, while being hounded by those that believed he stole the election. He will go down in history as one of our most accomplished presidents- no matter how you parse it. By the way, I've been a FL Realtor for 37 years & this is the worst it's ever been in real estate. WAKE UP! Mary L Mortimer, Ocala, FL

Editor: I found the article “Bush’s Conservatism” by Byron York one of those things that really helps people discuss the future of the Party and the future of the movement. Thank You, Luis M Linares, Bloomfield NJ, GOP Chair

Editor: Regarding my letter in the last edition, I would like to clarify a statement I made about the showcasing of Socialists being appointed in President Obama's Administration. I said I had been warning Congress for about 1 1/2 years about this. During the campaign for President, Obama said several things that indicated his ideology was Socialist and many of his friends and associates had radical left backgrounds. I began telling them then what to expect should he be nominated and you see his initiatives have proven this to be true. I would like to thank Carmen Suarez for her article and as one who knows about the deception of the left and Donald O'Brien for pointing out how the Federal Government manipulates monies. How do you think President Clinton balanced the budget? Federal Employees retirement funds, Social Security? I don't believe they have the right, by law, to touch Social Security Funds but they have in the past. Albert Grounds, Tampa, Fl

Editor: David Keene’s "Hiding ACORN's nuts" is GREAT!! He is a great writer. In "Hiding" he wrote some very clever stuff about the libs/lefties and their opium dreams, especially Obama, Washington Post, and, of course, ACORN. More! More! More of Keene's writing!!!!! IH
