Editor: I personally would like to thank ConservativeBattleline’s editor for opening my eyes to the evolution and complexity of the conservative movement. It is not to be tossed together with Republican, as each has their different mission. I believe as I read more, this country needs to grab hold of its conservative roots because that is what will get us back to the Constitution and what this great country stands for. Liberals are attempting to masticate what took over 200 years to formulate. Like a natural disaster that takes only moments to destroy something that has been standing hundreds of years, as in central Italy recently with the earthquake, the Obama administration and the liberal Democratic Congress are dismantling the elements our great country was founded upon...freedom to choose our destiny, lower taxes and small government. I want to put the pieces back together again.  I feel that with the help of great organizations like yours, I can communicate with others, that feel the way I do, and maybe, maybe we can turn it around. Here's to 2010 and 2012! God Bless and a blessed Easter. Sincerely, Mary Genovese Capaccio

Editor: “Capitalist Moral Hazard” is excellent. I truly believe the moral decline we see in our great nation is going to lead us down the road like the failing of Europe and the demise of the Roman Empire. I see Barak Obama as an amoral leader hell-bent to end our great nation founded on Christian principals. He is dead wrong; we still are a nation of Christian faith. Dewey Rotruck

Editor: The overall pessimistic views presented by Professor Svetozar Pejovich in your “Capitalist Moral Hazard” and somewhat endorsed by your editorial are not unrealistic - but they are unrealistically pessimistic.  There is clearly a battle to be fought.  To suggest the people are too lazy or self-absorbed to fight it just doesn't fit with my long view of humanity's course.  I do agree it isn't going to be pretty, but the two philosophical points from which it will be fought--freedom vs. state control--speak for themselves.  In other words, if you want to kill the possibility of human energy solving its own disastrous courses, state control won't work.  The system will right itself, and most likely without war, but not without pain. Although religion may or may not be on the decline, it is morality (which is obviously funded by religion) that is the crux of the matter.  The only morally defensible position for humanity is freedom.  If freedom begins to disappear in large measure the people will fight back.  They will fight back because that's who we are.  Again, that doesn't make the future pretty, but it does make it viable. Tom Tripp

Editor: Regarding “Capitalist Moral Hazard,” the federal government has no business interfering with private business. This is a free country. America is a Christian country. It was built on freedom. God has blessed America. The leaders are doing their own will and the people will be the ones to stop the crazy bills that are being passed. Barack Obama said the federal government would be transparent. When does he plan to do what he promised the people when he was asking for their vote? Obama needs to stop politicking and be the president. The truth is what the American people want and expect. Clyde Berry, Winnfield, Louisiana

Editor: I found your "Capitalist Moral Hazard" atypical of you. You sound defeated and worse. You ask, "Is it Christianity's fault?" Good grief! I have to ask you, a conservative editor: can Truth ever be at fault? You've just inquired if it's God's fault! The answer is No! I'd suggest you read Capitalism: the Unknown Ideal, by Ayn Rand, for a better understanding of capitalism. We need not go back to Rome nor Greece, nor anywhere in Europe, save England and our rebellion against the crown, to grasp what has happened to capitalism in the US. No human system of anything is perfect, but capitalism was the first, and will be the last moral economic system, just as the US Constitution laid out the national law for the first moral government of law and not of men in human history, and Christianity is the only conceivable moral religion. All three, moral economics, moral government, and moral theology, (not what any human being can tell you about it, but what you can discern for yourself through Him) receive their "energy" from God, provided there are not too few among "a few good men" to lead, light the road to freedom, the only road conceivable to life as a human being. Rewarding failure is NOT leading the way, nor is apathy. The industrialists who built this nation's industry were willing to give all they had to build it; the men who built this nation's government were willing to give up all they had to achieve a nation conceived in liberty, and the men long before, who furthered Christianity, gave their lives to spread the Truth. God gave us ten rules, subsequently covered by two, "Love God, and love ye one another." Our Constitution's significant laws are in its first ten amendments - all listing - "Government: hands off!" Truth is timeless: rules of morality do not change; rules of law change only when men look away as men lie to them, and God's laws are timeless. He is reality - far from an "opiate," for any man, nor for all men. All else is mere twisting of words, darkening, indeed poisoning, the waters of life." Judith Richie

Editor: Re “Capitalist Moral Hazard,” I am a conservative. But I know from news reports that it was the Bushes that let those huge mortgage companies make all those bad loans to people who could not repay them! The Bushes did this to get votes in the last election. Now we hafta pay for it! Bushes told the companies they would get the billions when it all went bust! Do you guys have the guts to expose the Bushes for this? Warren Trammell

Editor: Regarding “Capitalist Moral Hazard,” I think one of the things that turned Catholics from church attendance was the abuse of children by the Catholic priests, and the cover-up by church hierarchy for many years. I was raised and am a product of parochial upbringing for all of my pre-adult years. I still profess to being a devout Catholic albeit not one who attends weekly or contributes to the organized way of Catholicism. That having been said, I still believe that capitalism has its roots in religion and always will. Hopefully, capitalism will rule out fascism and socialism. Incidentally, I enjoy your columns. Trapshooter

Editor: My response to "Capitalist Moral Hazard" is that the true blame is Greed! But the biggest criminals are elected government officials, Federal and State, then Super-size Big Business CEO's. Let’s not blame the average Real Christian or Real Jew. The false Christian and false Jew are the problem world wide! Read your Bible to find the answers! When God's law comes to light these people will perish! Trust me. I'm not from the corrupt government! NOW AREN'T YOU A PROUD AMERICAN? A KOREAN VET

Editor: Regarding Curt Anderson’s “Steele Overhauls GOP” I love this guy! Michael Steele is one the brightest stars in the GOP. Of course the slanted, liberal press will not cut him a break--that doesn't surprise me. Keep the faith. Thanks, Donald & Kathryn Worz, Cincinnati

Editor: I hope that Curt Anderson’s “Steele Overhauls GOP” is an honest assessment of the actions of Mr. Steele over the last few weeks. I am one Republican that is and feels disenfranchised. In all honesty I have begun to feel as though the Congress was them and then there is us...The Congress votes for their healthcare and retirement. And then there is Medicare and Social Security. Not even the same concept is it? Lobbyists have turned the government into the get rich scheme of all time. If a man or woman is in Congress or government period they make me sick to my stomach. I hope that honor is restored to our government, but I don't see it happening. It's like honor among thieves. Many of my friends feel the same, and we are all conservatives. We all feel abandoned by our party! We have all sent tea bags and will continue to support Christian and conservative principles, but maybe we will have to name our party a different name? It's up to Mr. Steele. Gerald Dietz, Pagosa Springs, CO

Editor: Curt Anderson’s “Steele Overhauls GOP” sounds good. I hope it works. Tired of losing. Go back to being conservatives. Nancy Welsh, Cocoa Beach , Florida

Editor: Re Curt Anderson’s “Steele Overhauls GOP” I do hope Chairman Steele does return the GOP to the party of Bob Taft (the elder), Barry Goldwater (pre-elder years) and the conservative Ronald Reagan. The "Eastern" wishy-washy element HAS to be purged. People like Lugar, Snowe, Specter, Hatch, Collins, Lott etc., have done too much DAMAGE to our country already. Sincerely, Richard H. Irish, Edmond, OK

Editor: Curt Anderson’s “Steele Overhauls GOP” is the best news I have read in a long time. We have to win in the next election because the thought of Obama as president for another 4 years is too much to bear. I HATE the way he has degraded this country all in the hopes of elevating his own ego. Keep the good things coming. Mary Posan, Jacksonville, FL.

Editor: I am very happy to read in Curt Anderson’s “Steele Overhauls GOP” of the changes in the GOP structure that are apparently being made under the guidance of Michael Steele. I just would like to add my "two cents." I am so disappointed that I don't hear more Republican politicians (not just talk show hosts) speak out - and with some passion I might add - when the Libs come out with unconstitutional laws or make idiotic statements. How many people, for example, even know of the budget proposed by the GOP? Not one of my Lib friends had heard of it - One didn't believe me! Please take a look again at getting the message out. Thanks for all you do. Sincerely, Mary P. Adragna-Halstead, MD

Editor: Thanks for Curt Anderson’s “Steele Overhauls GOP” encouraging article. I am glad to hear that RNC Chairman Michael Steele is "sweeping house". Now that IS news. One problem of ours has been to think if we imitate the Democrat Party we will win! Uh Uh. Oh no. Never will that work. The people need a real choice. And the choice is not socialism. We need to get back to the principles or theme of the "Contract with America" which Newt Gingrich put forth in around 1994. I wish the RNC would confer with Newt on a new version. The current Democrat regime is going hell-bent toward socialism- fascism, I do fear. I can stand correcting if wrong, but I believe I am right. Thanks for listening. Yours for this Constitutional Republic, Grace E. Alexander, a Barry Goldwater-type Conservative San Mateo, CA

Editor: Curt Anderson’s “Steele Overhauls GOP” was a great article, short but simple. But most of all it inspired me and made me happy that steps are being made, small and large to overhaul the party. Luis A. Loya, Conservative values for a Conservative way of life.

Editor: Curt Anderson’s “Steele Overhauls GOP” is fine and dandy, but if all of the money is again used up by mailing letters to conservatives, those who contribute, we will again lose in 2010. If a major effort is not made to get new voters, then all is for naught. Preaching to the choir gets those of us who always vote anyway. Learn from the liberals, they start indoctrinating in day care centers, and continue through college. The GOP has to facilitate the purchase of radio and TV stations, flood the country with literature, get in the schools, hold more town hall meetings, and most of all, put the liberals on defense and stop compromising. You don't win wars by compromising. You win by killing the enemy. Thank you, Ronald Vandenboom, Franksville, WI.

Editor: I am embarrassed by the behavior of Republicans in recent years at the national level and my state (OH). Thanks to “Steele Overhauls GOP” for cleaning house and moving us in a positive direction. I apologize for believing that because Republicans were in power for much of the past decade plus, that everything would be alright. We must be willing to clean our own houses or the Reid-Obama-Pelosi-Emanuel rope will hang us. I am counting on you and Chairman Steele to lead the charge and be vigilant. We need training for poll watchers so more elections aren't stolen and getting the word out about people working behind the scenes to destroy America as we know it. Thanks for listening. Please forward this to Curt Anderson. Martha Cooper

Editor: I know that Michael Steele is very busy, but we, the people, need to hear more from him like we did in Curt Anderson’s “Steele Overhauls GOP”! We are planning Tea Parties, sending TeaBags to Congress, voicing our opinions as best we can.  We need Michael to speak to us more often. Jean Sadler The Stockton Tea Party

Editor: I hope as part of the house-cleaning reported in Curt Anderson’s “Steele Overhauls GOP”, we no longer support financially, morally, or publicly those "Republicans" in name only such as the mayor of NYC, the two Senators from Maine, and any other that has no principles but to get reelected by those that favor policies contrary to the conservative republic and its Constitution we hold dear. I want to continue to support the Republican Party as I think it is the only party of "grownups" that there is. I would vote for a Democrat that is conservative, and guess what, every Democrat conservative that ran, won. What is wrong with our party? America is not what the Democrat Party thinks it is just because they control everything. They make rules, regulations, policies, and programs that do nothing but perpetuate themselves and demand more and more money to get more and more bureaucrats (union Democrats) employed. We need to un-employ Democrats in the State Department, Attorney General's department, HUD, Homeland Security, and every other organization they currently run wild in. Because of their union, and President Bush's new more conciliatory tone, no one has dared to weed them out. We need some brave Republicans representing us and all of America. It is not for the weak, or the sheep. Mr. Steele, time to keep your axe sharp. Daniel Davis, Disgruntled Republican

Editor: All I have to say about “Steele Overhauls GOP”, it’s about time. IMHO this is long overdue. We need new ideas and people who want to work together for the good of the country first and not party or personal considerations. We certainly don't need any dead wood. Best Wishes for success to Chairman Steele and everyone involved. Sincerely, Jean Y.

Editor: Two quick points about Curt Anderson’s “Steele Overhauls GOP.” 1. Republicans in Congress do not exist now in the minds of the General Public. They are not seen, heard or cared about, other than occasionally on Fox. A CONTRACT WITH AMERICA II is sorely needed. 2. It is an embarrassment to have Three RINO's claiming to be Republicans while voting for the Stimulus bills and pork. You are well aware of their names from PA and ME. Mr Steele, you should remove their names from the Republican Party and stop this ruse. We must run credible candidates against them and now. I can only hope that you might have some means of listening to this post. I am not hopeful, but will pray our party can return to the principles of Ronald Reagan, God willing. Sincerely, CHARLES GOSLEE, Naples, Florida

Editor: It is hopeful that according to Curt Anderson’s “Steele Overhauls GOP”, the mistakes of the past will not be repeated--just learned from. Future mistakes are inevitable but they also can reflect attempts to do something new and ambitious. I hope the Republican Party returns to being the party of small government, fiscal restraint and a strong military. The past should not be dwelt upon but should hold lessons for the future. Our borders should be secured and there should be no consideration of amnesty for illegal aliens including the Dream Act. They made a choice to break the law and there must be no reward for this. At the national level there is plenty to do re our tattered economy and defense issues. Enough.... I appreciate hearing about the efforts to achieve what I hope will be a more conservatively focused party. Claire Kruchten, Naples, Florida

Editor: Since you asked, here are my views—on Curt Anderson’s “Steele Overhauls GOP.” A new conservative American party is needed. Jerry McConnell

Editor: We should not waste the time we have while we are gearing up for 2010. During the restructuring of the party, I would like to see a committee to concentrate on photo voters’ cards. This comes up when there is a suspicion of fraud. That is usually during the election, when time and manpower are limited. Could the party suggest the use of volunteers during off election time to clean up the files, look for duplications, research names of deceased and incarcerated? Then help issue the cards, wherever they are accepted.  If there is opposition and legal argument is necessary, we wouldn't be overwhelmed with the regular problems of elections. To eliminate any accusation of dishonesty, the other party could volunteer if they choose. As long as everyone was following the criteria set down by the Board of Election Supervisors, it would pretty easy to control. It would make the elections, I think, much easier to oversee by the Board, allowing them to address problems as they arise.  This could be the answer to Acorn, and their affiliates. I used to be an election judge for many years and have seen what happens when the control is loose. I also know how beneficial it would be to tighten it up. One more suggestion is to encourage members to keep a close watch on the local governments. Set a schedule to have someone attend all legislature meetings, county, state, city etc. watching the budget, keeping tract of who supports what, and making this information available to everyone and sending up red flags when necessary. I believe much can be accomplished by taking baby steps. Otherwise, you'll miss what you stepped over. Thank you, Olivia Ciambruschini

Editor: I appreciated Curt Anderson’s article: "Steele Overhauls GOP". This was definitely needed. Case in point, you can see my 'rant' being so fed up with the party that I copied Rush on it: http://melodyscalley.wordpress.com/2009/04/04/lack-of-republican-committee-leadership/ It's time to deal with the tyranny in this country, before it's too late. Melody Scalley

Editor: Finally, in Willie Soon’s “It’s the Sun, Stupid,” some real science! Thank you so much I'm going to send it to my Bongressman and demand they stop the stupid cap-in-trade bill! Charlie Deputy, Woodway TX

Editor: I wish Al Gore would study Willie Soon's article and other writings and perhaps return his Nobel prize money. Rising levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere may have a minuscule effect, but the levels will have to rise much faster and higher before the effect on the earth's climate will even become measurable in the presence of the even larger effect of the changes that occur naturally in the sun. As it is sometimes said of the Canadian economy with respect to the U.S. economy, when the U.S. economy hiccups, the Canadian economy goes into a severe depression. The same can be said of the earth's climate. When the sun sneezes, the earth freezes over, or vice versa. Errol Bonner

Editor: Nice article by Willie Soon - “It’s the Sun, Stupid,” - but how do we get the President's ear? I email him about his use of "global warming". It seems politics (I mean profits) still dominate our science. Yours, David Keller

Editor: It would be wonderful if Mr. Soon took his case to the president and his Harvard graduates because what his administration is pushing is total nonsense and will cause major problems for our economy. I have asked members in Congress to read about Brennan and now Mr. Soon will be mentioned in future mail to them. His voice would have a greater impact. Albert Grounds

Editor: Regarding Willie Soon’s “It’s the Sun, Stupid,” why don't we make sure that we print a number of copies of the NASA report from Dec 2007 that describes and verifies the facts about solar cycles versus man-made global warming BEFORE Obama finds out about it and has it declared a National Security issue and buries it in the archives somewhere? As far as I know NASA is not some radical right wing conspiracy group. Let’s get their report out to the public to counter the leftist loons. Don Hudson

Editor: “It’s the Sun, Stupid” is very interesting and makes sense. I'm no scientist but I've always felt that all the hype about global warming and that carbon emissions are causing the earth to warm up is hogwash and being used to make money for certain people and businesses and to gain more political control over our lives. I'm grateful for Willie Soon and other scientists that speak the truth - there seems to be so little of it in the world today.

Editor: Regarding Willie Soon’s “It’s the Sun, Stupid,” it should also be noted that as we observe the Sun Spots during the next 300 days or so, numerically and based on those changes noted so far, we will have entered a mini ice age. I guess that's our hockey stick "Theory"? Ian Jay Germaine

Editor: Regarding Willie Soon’s “It’s the Sun Stupid!!! if anyone has Al Gore’s address send this to him, Boots

Editor: Regarding Brian Wesbury and Robert Stein’s “Inflation Next?” I'll note that in spite of the CPI showing a roller coaster ride based on the components that are used to measure it, for those of us that actually live in the real world, our CPI has gone only in one direction. Up. Regardless of the price of oil per barrel year over year, our cost have gone up in the largest areas for the average Citizen, in food, utility bills (including municipal utilities), insurance and last but not least anxiety. The latter of course is because the Fed and our Government continue to mount on our backs. Making a long story short, where I certainly agree with the writers, it is a bigger problem than the article portends. Ian Jay Germaine, Sugar Land, Texas

Editor: We MUST return to being a party of Reagan as David Keene says in his article. That is the ONLY way we will achieve victory over these LIB DEMS, who got us in this MESS!!

Editor: Excellent advice from David Keene in his “Back To Reagan.” Nancy Welsh
