Editor: I just read your previous editorial “Obama Last New Dealer?” on February 22 and at this time, it looks like President Obama has succeeded in promoting the very things you predicted would never happen, as you have now admitted in “ Obama Hope or Epic Ruin?” Obama is a disaster for this country and if he is allowed to do what he wants done, will probably lay the bricks for our demise. The Democrat-controlled legislature led by the socialist Ms. Pelosi is going to give Obama every totalitarian scheme to get rid of our Constitutional freedoms and ensure that no opposing party can exist. Thanks for the literature. Very thought-provoking, Robert Wolfe

Editor: Oh thank you sir for “Obama Hope or Epic Ruin?” shedding such an important light on the president’s so-called economic rescue plan. I was totally unaware of the government pols wanting to manipulate a rescue such as this for partisan reasons, when life and action should certainly be a priority. Thanks again for ConservativeBattleline. Jeanette Miller

Editor: I totally agree with your assessment of the situation in “Obama Hope or Epic Ruin?” I'm so tired of the government spending my money and the generations following us. It's totally unacceptable. I email my senator and congress man everyday with how disappointed I am with the government. Maybe someday they will wake up but I doubt it. Althea Van Der Wal

Editor: Hurrah for “Obama Hope or Epic Ruin?” Please publish more of the same as this piece which so accurately points out our probable dismal future under this administration. Where are the dissenters? Where are the protests? We need heroes to lead the way to the new revolution against this assault on our core principles and values. Where are our heroes? A worried senior

Editor: As you suggest in “Obama Hope or Epic Ruin?”, saying that the economy will recover by 2010 because of historical precedent fails to recognize that the porkulus bill has tilted the field, much as FDR tilted the field in extending the economic problems he inherited for a further 10 years – deliberately in each case. Obama wants to drag this crisis out for as long as possible in order to further his socialist agenda – just like FDR. The worst economy we’ve ever seen in peacetime in this country was the Panic of 1895 that resolved itself in less than two years because the government did nothing and allowed the market to right itself. Government intervention solves nothing; it only creates new hurdles that remain with us permanently. James C. McAlister, Tampa, FL

Editor: If we don't stop the madness you outlined in “Obama Hope or Epic Ruin?”, and soon, America as we know it, is going straight down the tubes along with this administration! I am angry and everyone I talk to in my neighborhood feels the same way! Enough of this madness and this STUPID Stimulus Package! I was against the bailout from the very beginning before Pres. Bush left the White House. Now they've gone very crazy spending money we don't even have and can't pay back in several lifetimes. It is INSANE! DeeDee Miller, Raeford NC

Editor: I've heard many people say – including your “Obama Hope or Epic Ruin?” - the New Deal did NOT pull us out of the great depression of the 30's; rather, it was World War II that finally did. They contend that the taxes necessary for all that government spending was a millstone around the neck of the real economy, suppressing recovery. That makes perfect sense to me, but if the New Deal was burdensome government spending, then surely WW II was government spending raised to the nth power. Wouldn't this just be more of a bad thing? Steve, Nashville Tennessee

Editor: Thank you for the article “Obama Hope or Epic Ruin?” These are my sentiments exactly and I have made them known to Washington. Of course, I know the reaction, The Dems will ignore; The Republicans will agree but do nothing. We need this kind of information to be repeated over and over. Obama is still "The One" according to he liberal media and all Dems. One day the world will come crashing around him. What will he do then? Hopefully leave the office of President? How lucky could we get? Thanks again! Gale Cunnngham

Editor: Regarding “Obama Hope or Epic Ruin?” keep up the good work. We need to expose this administration for what its policy really is—a power grab. Regards Francis

Editor: Thank you for this article “Obama Hope or Epic Ruin?” and especially for pointing out that Governor Mark Sanford did speak out against the ruinous legislation that has been foisted on the American people against their will. The facts have been presented many times, in many ways by many people. Everyone who is functionally literate and has been paying attention knows that this spending spree will not help the nation or the economy and will likely result in disaster. What I fear is not known is that this is not a case, as one columnist recently put it, of "unintended consequences". Both President Obama and Secretary Clinton were avid students and proponents of the ideology of Saul Alinsky. In the preface of his 2nd book, "Rules for Radicals", he explains the central premise of all of his principles as follows: "Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and chance the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution. To bring on this reformation requires that the organizer work inside the system, among not only the middle class but the 40 percent of American families--more than seventy million people-- whose incomes range from $5,000 to $10,000 a year." [written in 1971] I submit that the President and Democrat-led Congress know exactly what they are doing. The American public must become so desperate, so defeated that we will accept socialism. That requires imposing a level of poverty on the entire nation sufficient to generate national hopelessness. They know what they are doing; they know what the results will be. While we are focusing on trying to convince people that all of this spending is folly, the real work of undermining our nation is going on behind the smoke screen and bluster by undermining the voting system. Being right is not enough. Having a majority of the population's support is not enough. We must neutralize all of these voting irregularities before it is too late. Because when it is too late, we will either descend into socialism or we will have a real rebellion, with real bullets and bloodshed. The abuses of King George against the American Colonies a few hundred years ago pale beside the abuses in which President Obama and Congress are engaging. Best regards, Gail Spurlock

Editor: “Obama Hope or Epic Ruin?” There is only one way to make housing affordable that is to lower the price of the house. Anything else is just more government meddling. Robert Solum

Editor: On “Obama Hope or Epic Ruin?” I understand all the pork in the bill must be covered, but what about what ELSE is hidden in the STIMULUS? Am I and my fellow layman conservatives the only one who saw the hidden agenda buried deep in the bill to suppress our 2nd amendment rights? I have Aspergers. And thanks to this bill, I can be denied the right to buy a weapon to defend myself and my family (in spite of the fact that I have no VIOLENT tendencies - and have honorably served my country in the Texas Air National Guard. I just want to know WHY this is NOT BEING COVERED! If you want to know the entire content of the bill, please go to Congress.gov. The bill I believe is S.1. The amendment to which I refer is buried in the middle of the bill. Thanks, Debra Steinman, a conservative in exile behind enemy lines in NM.

Editor: Regarding “Obama Hope or Epic Ruin?” and the mortgage bailout, why should we pay for other's mistakes, when they will profit from the sales when home prices rebound?

Editor: Thank you for “Obama Hope or Epic Ruin?” ’s sensible approach to the financial crisis we face. Apparently there are very few in our government who have the sense to see this catastrophe coming. It is terrible that the mainstream media never seems to 'get it’. They are so busy idolizing the 'messiah' that they have no time for actually reporting the news, but want to 'make the news'. Sadly, our Supreme Court is now in the business of arbitrarily making laws rather than interpreting our Constitution. The vast bulk of my retirement is in my 401K, into which I religiously made deposits all of my working years. It has declined almost 40% in value in the last few months. My life insurance cash values are the only assets I have that continue to grow. I leave the dividends in and they accumulate interest. Private enterprise is on it's death bed and I fear what the future may have for my children and grandchildren with the socialists we now have in power. I am 82 years old and have worked hard all my life to provide for my family and my own retirement. I have never cost the taxpayers of this country a single dime. On the contrary, I have paid thousands of dollars in taxes and now my hard earned money is being squandered. Bill Wisenbaker

Editor: I loved David Keene’s article “Rejecting Stagflation.” I would like to point out that by obstructing this so called stimulus bill Republicans are not obstructing progress. Steven Samolowicz

Editor: Lee Ellis’ “Mexico Threat” is, by far, one of the best articles that I have read in several weeks.  Congratulations!  His research and your journalism are deeply appreciated.  Keep up the good work. Tom Oppelt

Editor: Thanks to Lee Ellis’ “Mexico Threat” for reminding citizens of the U.S. about the illegal immigration problem with Mexico. It has been and will continue to be a drain on our economy unless we speak out and demand that our government enforce existing laws and build the fence. I believe this problem has destroyed California from a give away benefit state, crime and loss of confidence in our system in fairness. Paul

Editor: I think of myself as a Patriot, however being a disabled veteran I often try to think “What can I do?” I would like to pay my local paper to publish Marc Rotterman’s “Obama Close Borders?” entire article. How do I get permission? Thank you for being a Patriot. Anthony J. Ninfo, XSGT US Army

Editor: Regarding Marc Rotterman’s “Obama Close Borders?” I have recently read what it is costing the tax payers in California. It appears this cost is one of the main reasons why the state is broke. Can you estimate what Illegal Immigration is costing the tax payers of the country. David Hadley

Editor: Regarding the "Glorious Coal" article by Alan Caruba, he mentions that pollution-control equipment accounts for up to 40% of the cost of a new power plant and 35% of operational costs. I'm unsure if he's implying this is a bad thing. I agree with him that there is no global warming, our oil deposits should be utilized, mandatory solar power is wrong (in Los Angeles it is going to be to regulated as to make it more expensive), and Stephen Chu is frightening. Sincerely, Tesa Becica, Van Nuys, CA

Editor: Nice article by Dennis Avery, “Warming Cause Air Crash?” Now I will be "armed and ready" when the libs start attacking. A question sir: Where did you get the info regarding the cold trend until 2030. I am moderating a Great Decisions discussion group on the Aortic and can use all the help I can get. Thank you again for an informative article. I live on the Chesapeake Bay and get to help out controlling the goose population on occasion. John McConnico

Editor: “No Criticism Allowed” by Jeffrey Folks is an excellent article. Keep the articles coming. Thank you, Brenda & Tom Fitch

Editor: Hello and thank you for the articles in the latest publication of the Conservative Battle Line. All of the articles were good but the ones that stood out the most to me were "The Test of Conscience" by Paul Weyrich, "Rejecting Stagflation" by David Keene, and "No Criticism Allowed" by Jeffrey Folks. I find it hard to believe that our doctors and hospitals are subject to this "give abortions or do not practice" mentality all for the sake of giving abortions to whomever anywhere in the world. I cannot believe that I am paying for this with my tax dollars. The fact that thirteen year old girls are not able to make adult decisions yet and to be able to have an abortion without parental consent is one of the worst choices made for our children. I sure hope President Obama does not plan on penalizing these same parents for not having insurance on their kids since these same parents may or may not be working at this point. Why would most bother to cover their children when the government has taken away another right of parenting by letting these young people make this choice? The "Fairness Doctrine" that we can almost bet will be put into place should cover all media and that includes the liberal radio, newspapers, magazines, CNN, MSNBC and so on. A person does not hear very many conservative thoughts on any of these outlets when in fact I have heard many libs on conservative talk radio. I want to see what this far left government will do if they get a taste of their own medicine and are held accountable if the "doctrine" is not fair to all media. I swear it is time we join forces and protest this liberal agenda before it is way too late. Believe me I am checking into sites that can help organize peaceful protest and help all people, no matter which side of the fence they are on, be able to have their voices heard on different subjects that threaten our constitutional rights such as the right to free speech, the right to bear arms, and the right to live our lives in what has been known as a free country but is swiftly changing to a socialist run country. I hope all of these Obama maniacs enjoy their new land. Keep up the good work and keep fighting for what is right for this country and it's people. Rhonda Linders, Grafton IL.
