Editor: Your article by Rabbi Daniel Lapin on "Why Jewish Groups Oppose Gibson's Passion" reminds us that we had a very great Rabbi in New York, Rabbi Avigdor Miller. He would have petitions to sign and letters to write for conservatives and Republicans. He would always say that when the secular world gets better, it's better for everyone. And he didn't just use words. He was constantly busy writing letters and getting others to write and sign petitions. Unfortunately even many of the orthodox are Democrats, and the non observant Jews are almost all liberal. I feel it's because they are searching for an easy good cause to make them "Feel" good about themselves.

Dear Editor: I applaud your attempts to petition Congress to reform President Bush's Medicare Reforms. Private choice and maintaining private medical coverage are keystones to freedom-and medical care. Please keep up the good work-and please succeed.

Respectfully,

Sir: As your articles have documented, the environmental movement has gone astray. America is in the process of implementing Al Gore's book, "Earth in the Balance".
This is being accomplished through "sustainable development", and the
environmentalist agencies are in charge. This whole movement requires "central
planning", and control of American's lives. I am a native of Charlotte, NC, and have conducted my own investigation of this outrageous idea of 'smart growth', which is what the local leaders call it.

Editor: Your article "Does Race Explain Media Scandals?" was interesting. But, not all things are so black and white. In my opinion, the media scandals are not race based, but politically based. There is so much spin out there that the events of the day reported as news are more fiction than fact. You have Stephen King type news on SUV's that wreck, run over things and just will not cooperate with the poor driver of the vehicle. All news seem to have catch phrases that spin rather than report. It is not just Blair and Kelley that fabricate stories, it is all the major news sources. Categorizing Americans by color is stupid, it divides people. Do blacks get special treatment, promotions because they are black? Sometimes. Do whites get special treatment, promotions because they are white? Sometimes. We need to grow up and quit pointing our finger at our brothers and sisters and accusing them of having something we don't have, and learn to accept that life is not fair. Move on with what we have control over, and not worry so much about what we don't have control over.

Editor: One Sunday each year, hearty perambulators are given the opportunity to walk the Chesapeake Bay Bridge connecting Maryland's Western Shore with Kent Island in the middle of the famed estuary. In 2003, the event was cancelled over concerns of "homeland security". This year, our overlords granted dispensation to hold the event; however, to be deemed worthy of the pilgrimage supplicants had to pass through a litany of new security precautions.

Common sense reveals that if Bridge authorities were really concerned about security they'd have to do more than screen knapsacks and picnic coolers. One doesn't have to sit on the National Security Council or be Tom Clancy to realize that a car or truck bomb would inflict more damage to the Bay Bridge than a single homicidal maniac on foot. Are they going to pull over every single vehicle for inspection at the height of the pending tourist season? Better yet, if a terrorist really wanted to blow up the Bay Bridge, wouldn't he circumvent the watchful eye of police all together and launch a rocket from a secluded boat on the Bay rather than sneak on to the Bridge itself?

But then again, the matter is not so much about actually saving lives but rather about stifling the individuality of the American people and furthering the grand dream of getting us all to think alike without question. Government officials are free to appear as cowardly as they want to be erecting nonsensical barriers. Just don't be surprised when the American people grow so disgusted they no longer see the point of visiting these structures embodying the values and ingenuity once embraced by this great nation.

Editor: Half-seriously, I offer the following suggestion. The Israelis have knocked off the second Hamas leader in about a week's time. They seem to have the bad guys lined up nicely in their gunsights. At this point, Hamas seems a bit hesitant about identifying its new leader (next victim). Why not send them Michael Moore as their new (and very short-term) leader? Michael Moore has often denounced the U.S. as an imperialistic oppressor and he has declared that the Iraqui terrorists will triumph. In other words,
his political and social views are fully congruent with those of Hamas.

From Hamas's viewpoint, Moore's appointment would swing most of Hollywood,
NPR, PBS, CNN, and the Washington Post, LA Times, not to mention the NY
Times, soldly behind Hamas. It brings tears to the eyes to think of the
brave support from President Bartlett of "Left Wing" TV fame. Can't you
just see the Beverly Hills cocktail party fund raisers?

Editor: Your articles have focused upon the problems in the Muslim world. If only the whole world could be like Uzbekistan. Tuesday, April 27, 2004 The Washington Times Special Report, has quite a few interesting articles explaining their peacefulness and their ethnical, religious, cultural variety.

Much like America used to be before events unfolded. We are targets now because of our friendship with Israel, not to mention our presence in Arab countries where the news in their worlds says that we are bringing death, and ruining their world. I can't say if we have any Muslim friends or just Israel in the region But this country Uzbekistan seems to befriend all religions, cultures, and has done so for more years than us. Please read these articles and maybe we can find more peace in our world.

Editor: Here in East Hampton, our economy would be down the drain without the folks from south of the border. The dirty secret is that without all these illegal immigrants, social security would be worse off than it is now. All most of these folks have fake numbers so taxes and Social Security are withheld and you know they don't get refunded. So, the illegal pays, the boss pays and nothing will be paid out to these numbers. We need to have millions of young immigrants 35 and under to save Social Security.
